Mr. Jobs, rest in peace. Even though you're gone, you're tremendously innovative and ingenious creations will stay with us forever. It is like we're carrying a piece of you whenever we tap away on our iPhone keyboards, or switch on our well-loved MacBooks.
If you are reading this, I would be very grateful if you could have one minute's silence.

Anyway, I was lucky enough to get the chance to interview the author herself!
Q. What inspires you to write your books?
Ideas inspire me. Once I have an idea that I know would make a great story, I just have to see it through. I love it when it all comes together. And I love it when people contact me to talk about my books. When you first write a book you never dream that people from all over the world will be finding your website and emailing your with comments or questions. It's really the most wonderful thing.
Q. If you had endless possibilities of promoting your books, which method would you choose?
I love the idea of billboards! I love stark messages that have real impact, that make people think...
Q. Do you think there's any chance that a 'longevity' drug will be ever produced and used?
You know, the more I read the more I think that something like Longevity will be produced one day. It probably won't let us live forever, but might extend life considerably...
Q. What are your thoughts on the cover of The Declaration?
I love the cover, especially the paperback. I am visually illiterate so always leave the ideas for covers with my publishers' creatives. So far I've loved what they've come up with!
Q. What is your favourite quote?
Ooh, tough one. Different quotes for different times. I love Virginia Woolfe's quote about every woman needing a room of their own... I also live by Winston Churchill's famous quote about what to do when everything is against you: 'Keep buggering on':)

P.S. I'm so sorry that I haven't been posting recently. I've been very lazy. I have decided to take a semi-break from A Novella's Tale. I will still be posting, but not as frequently.
If I have finished reading a novel, I will still be posting my review. However, I will not be participating in the weekly memes for now. Sorry :'(

Interview with Cathy Cassidy!

Cathy Cassidy is a young adult fiction author. She has written numerous novels, including: Dizzy, Indigo Blue, Lucky Star and Angel Cake. Cathy is also known as the 'Queen of Tween'!
Q: What inspires you to write your books?
I guess my readers inspire me! I find young people fascinating - it's a great stage of life to be at. You're no longer a child, but you're not quite an adult either - you're poised right on the very edge of that, and anything and everything is still possible. Friendship, families, love, individuality, eccentricity and emotion - all of those things inspire me!
Q: If you had endless possibilities of promoting your books, which method would you choose?
I'd hide hundreds of gift-wrapped books in unexpected places, like a kind of treasure hunt...
Q: Out of all of your many book characters, who would you like to hang out with the most?
Out of the adult characters I'd pick Tess from Dizzy, Miss Quinn from Driftwood and Charlotte and Paddy from Cherry Crush. I can't choose from the teen characters - I love all of them, even fiesty Scarlett and moody Honey. Maybe I'd pick Mouse from Dizzy and Lucky Star - he is my all-time fave character.
Q: Is there any chance that you'll be writing a novel in the young-adult fiction genre any time soon?
I'd like to, but I don't have immediate plans... I am behind with deadlines as it is. I'd worry that my younger readers would read any older, darker books, too. Maybe one day!
Q: If you could make up a word, what would it be and what would be its definition?
Chocolicious. (I am guessing we all know what that means... sigh!)
Q: Let's play a quick version of the 'Truth or Lie' game. Tell me one peculiar truth and one peculiar lie about yourself. We have to guess which one is true!
I am scared of worms.
I am fluent in Japanese.
Thanks so much Cathy!

Just got my first blog award! I'm so happy! This is the Liebster Award, which was given to me from lovely Larissa from Howling Turtle. Thank you so much! :D
The Liebster Award is mainly for small blogs, which helps us out heaps to gain followers and rep, LOL!
This is what Larissa said about A Novella's Tale:
A Novella's Tale This blog just has the cutest design! I love it! Lauren gives her blog a great personality!
I'm gonna pick 3 other blogs which I think should be given this award:
- Random and Booky Sara-Sadiya has a great blog going, and I think she deserves some attention! Keep up the good work!
- In Interest Holly runs this blog, and I really love its dark design and woody features. If you know me well, you know I love themes!
- In Between Writing and Reading Okay, I wouldn't really say that this is a small blog, but this is seriously one of my most favourite blogs of all time! My friend Jude runs it, and there is A LOT to see. You hafta check it out!!!
Once again, thank you to Larissa!

Now, guess what? 'A Novella's Tale' is the featured blog for this week! I'd love to thank Rachel (Parajunkee's View) and Alison (Alison Can Read) for giving me this terrific opportunity to be featured. So, thank you! Also, if you've visited this blog, please leave a comment and a link to your blog URL below. I will follow you once you do :)
Let's get to the main point now...
Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?
The first author I would choose would be J.K. Rowling. Haha, I'm sure everyone expected that. But the reason why I'd love to talk to her would be because she's created a phenomenon book series. She's a fantastic example of rags to riches. What is her secret to being so successful? I'd like to know.
The second author would have to be Hans Christian Anderson. I absolutely LOVE his fairytales (and yes, I do believe that you're never too old for them!) and it's incredible that his stories have been passed from generation to generation, almost without getting a scratch or dent. By that, I mean that the stories we are told are pretty much the same as the ones our grandparents heard of when they were young.
Finally, I would love to have a chat with Anne Frank. I understand that she's not really an author, but I find her very inspirational. Barely any of us can relate to her, but yet, she is someone we could easily have a conversation with on the street. Thinking of her shifts my mood from depressed to hopeful. If she believed that she could survive the Holocaust, I can definitely get over my bad hair day.
Which three authors would YOU pick? I'm interested to know!!!
